The Research and Education (R&E) Network forms the backbone of NREN’s offerings, connecting educational institutions, research organizations, and hospitals across Nepal to global networks. NREN is connected to the Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN) and the Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN), which enables seamless connectivity between Nepalese institutions and international universities, research communities, and academic networks. Currently, NREN provides a 45 Mbps R&E connection, with plans for an upgrade to further enhance bandwidth and meet the growing demands of data transfer required by member institutions.

NREN’s infrastructure supports a variety of educational and research activities, including large-scale data sharing, global collaborations. Through this network, students and researchers can benefit from the rapid transfer of data, fostering innovation and progress in Nepal’s academic and research sectors.
